Effects Reference

Every built-in effect and its parameters — reverb, delay, distortion, EQ, compressor, chorus, and filter.

GranSample ships seven built-in effects. This page documents each one and its parameters. To add, reorder, bypass, or remove effects, see The Effects Chain.

Open any effect from its slot in the chain to reveal a header with an ON/OFF bypass toggle, a preset chip row, and a grid of knobs. EQ and Filter also draw an interactive response curve you can drag directly. Each knob can be assigned to a hardware control via MIDI CC Learn — see MIDI Setup & Control.

Reverb

Adds ambience and space. A single wet/dry control blends the reverberated signal against the source.

ControlWhat it doesRange / default
MixWet/dry balance0–100%, default 30%

Delay

A feedback delay line for echoes and slapback.

ControlWhat it doesRange / default
TimeDelay time between repeats0–2 s, default 0.30 s
FeedbackHow much of the output is fed back in0–95%, default 50%
MixWet/dry balance0–100%, default 30%

Distortion

Drives the signal for grit and saturation. Push Pre-Gain up to harden the texture, then blend it back with Mix.

ControlWhat it doesRange / default
Pre-GainInput gain into the distortion stage-80 to 20 dB, default -6 dB
MixWet/dry balance0–100%, default 30%

EQ

A single parametric band for boosting or cutting around a center frequency. Drag the curve to set frequency and gain at once; pinch to widen or narrow the band.

ControlWhat it doesRange / default
FrequencyCenter frequency (logarithmic knob)20 Hz–20 kHz, default 1 kHz
BandwidthWidth of the band0.05–5.0, default 1.0
GainBoost or cut at the center frequency-24 to 12 dB, default 0 dB

Compressor

Tames dynamics by attenuating signal above the threshold.

ControlWhat it doesRange / default
ThresholdLevel above which compression applies-40 to 20 dB, default -20 dB
AttackHow fast it reacts once over threshold0.001–0.2 s, default 0.001 s
ReleaseHow fast it lets go0.01–3.0 s, default 0.05 s

Chorus

Thickens a sound with modulated, detuned copies.

ControlWhat it doesRange / default
RateModulation speed0.1–10 Hz, default 1.0 Hz
DepthModulation intensity0–1, default 0.5
MixWet/dry balance0–100%, default 30%

Filter

A resonant filter that sweeps high or low content out of the signal. Switch the response with the segmented Type picker below the curve: LPF (low-pass), HPF (high-pass), or BPF (band-pass).

ControlWhat it doesRange / default
FrequencyCutoff frequency (logarithmic knob)20 Hz–20 kHz, default 1 kHz
ResonanceEmphasis at the cutoff-20 to 20 dB, default 0 dB
TypeLPF / HPF / BPFdefault LPF
